Debit Card Safety Tips

  • Look at the PIN pad, Point of Sale terminal, or ATM before inserting a debit card. If anything looks unusual, point it out to a staff member and do not use your card at that location.

  • Insert a chip card whenever possible, rather than swiping it. The chip in your card encrypts your information, whereas unnecessary swiping exposes customer information to potential skimmers.

  • Protect your PIN number by shielding the PIN pad when entering your information.

  • Select a PIN that won’t be easy to figure out (i.e., don’t use a birth date) and memorize it instead of writing it down.

  • Remember to remove the card from the POS terminal or ATM when you finish the transaction.

  • Remain with your debit card. You should not leave a debit card unattended or entrust it to someone else. If a card gets stuck in an ATM, you should stay near the ATM and contact the bank immediately. If you lose your wallet or believe that your card has been compromised, please contact us to get that card closed and a new one on order!

  • Monitor your transaction history via online banking or with our debit card alerts to know exactly what is coming out of your account!

  • When using your Debit Card online, be sure that you are using a secure website before entering your card information.

  • Do not give your card information to an online site that was accessed via an ad on any social networking site.
