Since 1998, NCCU has awarded scholarships reflecting our enduring commitment to supporting future generations in their academic pursuits.

Academic Scholarship

Each year, NCCU offers two, $1,000.00 second-semester scholarships to graduating seniors from schools within our 14-county membership area who are continuing their education. 

Qualification Criteria for Scholarship Application

By submitting this application, you agree to submit a class picture or photo of yourself (the applicant). A signed waiver will be required for NCCU to publish your name in any of our advertisements.

APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR 2027 SCHOLARSHIP IS APRIL 15, 2027

  1. ACADEMICS – ACT or Technical School Admission Test results, and your High School Grades, Honor Roll, etc. Transcripts are required and must be signed by a school official.

  2. SCHOOL ACTIVITIES - School Government, band, clubs, sports, etc. (List all)

  3. COMMUNITY SERVICE - Volunteer Programs, Girl/Boy Scouts, 4-H Club, etc. (List all)

  4. EMPLOYMENT HISTORY - Work study, job after school, etc. (List all)

  5. MEMBERSHIP - To qualify for the scholarship, you, your parent, or legal guardian must be a Prime Member for at least one year and be in good standing. Additional consideration will be given if the student applicant is a member of the credit union. Please contact your local office for details.

  6. ESSAY – Topic: What is a credit union? What are the benefits of being a credit union member? How do credit unions impact the communities they serve? Length: A minimum of 300 words, not to exceed 500 words.

  7. PAYMENT OF FUNDS – You must complete the first semester of post-secondary education and submit proof of enrollment for the second semester before scholarship funds will be issued.

Military Scholarship

NCCU offers military scholarships, in varying amounts, for graduating seniors who have chosen to enter a branch of the military.

Qualification Criteria for Military School Application

  1. Commitment to enter a branch of the United States Military immediately following high school graduation.

    Class of 2026: Must enter the military by December 31, 2026 to qualify for the 2026 scholarship.

    Class of 2027: Must enter the military by December 31, 2027 to qualify for the 2027 scholarship.

  2. MEMBERSHIP - To qualify for the scholarship, you, your parent, or legal guardian must be a Prime Member for at least one year and be in good standing. Additional consideration will be given if the student applicant is a member of the credit union. Please contact your local office for details.

  3. PAYMENT OF FUNDS – Scholarship funds will be awarded at High School Graduation or Awards Day Ceremony if possible.

  4. Military Scholarship Application must be completed by the graduate and a military recruiter or a high school official (Note: A valid email address is needed to apply online).
