Northwoods Community Credit Union offers a college scholarship and a military scholarship.
Our college scholarships are in the amount of $1,000 and are awarded to two high school seniors in our field of membership who will be attending a college or university upon graduation.
Our military scholarships vary in amount, and are awarded to all high school seniors in our field of membership who have enlisted in a branch of the United Sates Military, meet the scholarship criteria, and submit an application.
Qualifications are listed below, along with application instructions.
College Scholarship – applications due April 15th
Academics – Grades, Honor Roll, etc.
** Transcript Required– Must be signed by a school official
School Activities – School Government, band, clubs, sports, etc.
Community Service – Volunteer Programs, Girl/Boy Scouts, 4-H Club, etc.
Employment History – Work study, job after school, etc.
Membership – To qualify for the scholarship, you, your parent or your legal guardian must be a Prime Member of the credit union for at least one year, and be in good standing. Additional consideration will be given if the student applicant is the prime member. Membership eligibility is a requirement; please contact a local office for details.
Essay – Topic: What is a credit union? What are the benefits of being a credit union member? How do credit unions impact he communities they serve? Length: 300 – 500 words.
Payment of Funds – Must complete first semester of post-secondary education and submit proof of enrollment for second semester before scholarship funds will be issued.
Military Scholarship –
applications accepted from May 1 – December 31
Commitment to enter a branch of the United States Military following high school graduation – verification by military recruiter or high school official is required.
Membership – In order to be considered you must be the prime member on your account at Northwoods Community Credit Union. To qualify for consideration if you are not already a Prime Member on your own account, you need only open a share savings account with $5.00 at NCCU. Membership eligibility is required. Payment of funds – Scholarship funds will be awarded at High School Graduation or Awards Ceremony
